HISTORY AND INTRODUCTION OF COMPUTER

It is universal truth that we need a number of system tocount something. In prehistoric era man used his fingertips to count then he used pebbles and stones to count things. You know we are very curious and always in search of the best solution. This curiosity led man to develop first calculating device ABACUS in china over 2000 years ago.
CHARLES BABBAGE
Charles Babbage was known as "Father Of Computer".In 1822 , Babbage designed his "Difference Engine" which mainly consists of:

ALU (Arithmetic & Logic Unit)
CU (Control Unit)
MU (Memory Unit)

he had made a lot of efforts and resources to take result of that machine.

MODERN AGES

The computer have been divided into Five Generations on the basis of their technological improvement.

1) First Generation (1942 to 1955)
2) Second Generation (1955 to 1964)
3) Third Generation (1964 to 1975)
4) Forth Generation (1975 to Present)
5) Fifth Generation (Present to Beyond)

FIRST GENERATION (1942 TO 1955)

A list of some computer of this generation is

EDVAC (Electronic Discrete Variable Automatic Computer)
MANIAC(Mathematical Analysis Numerical Integrate Computer)
UNIVAC(Universal Automatic Computer)
EDSAC(Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Computer)

First generation computers are those that were built in the early 1950s using vacuum tubes. These are also identified by their slow input/output devices.Such computers were capable of executing about 1000 instruction per second and their storage capacity was limited to 2000 characters of data information.

SECOND GENERATION (1955 TO 1964)

The second generation computers used transistors. The scientists at Bell laboratories develop transistors in 1947.These scientists include John Barden, William Brattain and William Shockley. The size of the computers was decreased by replacing vacuum tubes with transistors. The examples of second generation computer are IBM 7094 SERIES.IBM 1400 SERIES and CDC 164 etc

THIRD GENERATION (1964 TO 1975)

The third Generation computer used the integrate circuits (IC).Jack Kilby developed the concept of integrate circuit in 1958.It was an important invention in the computer field. The first IC was invented and used in 1961.The computer become smaller in size, faster, more reliable and less expensive.the examples of third generation computer are IBM 370,IBM System/360,UNIVAC 1108 and UNIVAC AC 9000 etc.

FOURTH GENERATION (1975 TO PRESENT)

The fourth generation computer started with the invention of Microprocessor. The Microprocessor contain thousands of ICs.It was known as intel 4004.The technology of integrated circuits improve rapidly. The LSI (Large Scale Integration)circuit and VLSI(Very Large Scale Integration) circuit was designed. It greatly reduce the size of computer. It can contain millions of electronics circuits. The example of fourth generation computer are Apple Macintosh & IBM Pc.

FIFTH GENERATION (PRESENT TO BEYOND)

The fifth Generation computer are expected extensively to employ audio-visual,Input/Output and artificial intelligence Techniques.Other features being aimed at are super speed computer "Sigh" and mobility. The robots of scientific fiction. This is post Modern Generation.Laptop, computer,Palmtop Computer and Smart phones technology are the part of Fifth Generatiom. The advacement in modern technologies revolution the computer
